Terms of Use

By using ChessAdept — the app or the website — you agree to these terms. They're short; please actually read them.

The service

ChessAdept analyzes chess games and turns them into training: reviews, puzzles from your own mistakes, opening practice, and progress tracking. It's free during early access. Features, limits, and pricing may change as the product grows; if we ever introduce paid tiers, nothing you already stored is held hostage.

Your account

You need to be at least 13 years old. Keep your credentials to yourself; you're responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account and all its data at any time under Settings → Delete account.

Your content

Your games are yours. By importing them you give us permission to store and process them to run the service — including sending game-derived data (moves and evaluations, never your identity) to AI providers to generate commentary. Delete a game, or your account, and that permission ends with it.

Fair use

Don't abuse the service: no circumventing rate limits, scraping, probing, disrupting other users, or using ChessAdept for anything unlawful. We may suspend or terminate accounts that do.

Third-party content

Master games come from public-domain and attributed sources. Opening explainers are adapted from Wikibooks' Chess Opening Theory (CC BY-SA 4.0), attributed where shown. Game data is fetched from Lichess and Chess.com via their public APIs; their names and trademarks belong to them, and ChessAdept is not affiliated with or endorsed by either.

Engine analysis and AI commentary

Evaluations come from a chess engine and are as good as engines are — very, but not gospel. Prose labeled “— AI commentary” is machine-generated from verified engine output and can still be imperfect; the numbers are the ground truth. None of it is professional advice of any kind.

No warranty

ChessAdept is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We work hard to keep it fast and correct, but we don't promise uninterrupted or error-free service.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, P&T Labs LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Termination

You can stop using ChessAdept and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, with notice where practical.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, we'll update this page and its effective date and call it out in the app. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which P&T Labs LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
